Caring for Your Human Hair Wig

At Wigs Amor, we advise washing your alternative hair every 6-8 wears. However, it's crucial not to color or chemically alter alternative hair, as it may compromise its integrity. For human hair systems, we recommend performing a check wash within 14 days of receipt.

Wash Procedure

  • Before washing, gently detangle the hair with your Jon Renau paddle brush.
  • Wet the hair thoroughly using cool running water and comb through with your fingers.
  • If tangling/matting is evident, proceed with caution, as excessive tangling may indicate inversion. Contact your retailer or manufacturer immediately.
  • Proper care during washing is vital, as tangling/matting that occurs after months of wear is usually a result of improper care.

Cleansing & Conditioning

  • Gently remove tangles with the paddle brush before washing.
  • Use a small amount of Argan Smooth Luxury Shampoo, lathering the hair while ensuring it travels in the same direction. Avoid rubbing to prevent tangling.
  • Rinse thoroughly in cool running water until the water runs clear.
  • Apply Argan Smooth Luxury Conditioner, avoiding the wig or hairpiece base.
  • Work conditioner through mid-lengths and ends for 3–5 minutes.

Drying & Styling Guidelines

  • Pat excess water from the wig or hairpiece with a towel.
  • Detangle gently with the paddle brush.
  • Allow the cap to dry completely before placing it on a canvas block head.
  • Dampen hair, apply a small amount of Blown Away Blow Dry Balm, and distribute evenly.
  • Blow dry in sections using a round boar-bristle brush on medium-high heat.
  • Use the “cool shot” button to lock in style.

  • Use professional-grade heat styling tools with a maximum temperature of 350 °F.
